Graduate Study in Plant Ecology at Chapel Hill

Robert Peet, Professor of Biology
Alan S. Weakley, Adjunct Assistant Professor
Peter White, Professor of Biology

We share interests in such related fields as plant geography, conservation biology, and plant population ecology. One commonality among members of our research group is a very strong interest in field ecology and botany.  The similarity of our interests has led to the development of an exciting and dynamic research group that typically consists of approximately 10 graduate students, a couple postdocs, and a couple undergraduate honors students.

The types of research interests represented among our research students covers a broad range of areas in plant community ecology and plant geography.  Our personal research activities are summarized on our home pages [Peet] [Weakley] [White] .  We are rather open-minded about what a student working with us might undertake for his or her graduate research. For specific examples of student projects, please consult the rosters of past and present members of our group

If after examining the research activities summarized on this web site you would like to explore further your own interests and how they might fit into our program, please feel free to contact one or both of us.  We would be pleased to answer any questions you might have.
